Neighbourhood Plan - Public Meeting

Date: 20th March, 2015

Andover Neighbourhood Plan Steering Committee is holding a Public Meeting on Tuesday 24th March 2015 at 7pm in the Guildhall to discuss the future of Andover. This is your Town and your chance to voice your opinions on the future of Andover.

The Neighbourhood Plan (NP) came into force in August last year following consultations held by Test Valley Borough Council and it is the Steering Committee made up of individuals drawn from the community who will drive the initiative forward.  The purpose of this NP is to allow those people who live and or work in Andover to be able to lead, shape and influence the decisions that affect where they live/work.  This is one facility that The Localism Act 2011 provided, so local communities could have a greater say.
The principle of neighbourhood planning encourages local communities to preserve and enhance the natural and built environment and may help create opportunities for homes and employment.  Having a NP in place may not stop development but it can ensure that any development is in line with the wishes of the community and is sympathetic to local needs.
The whole community needs to be involved in the NP.  We have already held two public meetings and at the Public Meeting mentioned above there will be a full presentation on the NP and we will be seeking more members for the Steering Committee plus experts who would help on an ad-hoc basis.
This is your Town.  This is your chance to get involved and make a difference.
