Sandbag Collection Scheme

Date: 9th April, 2014

Test Valley Borough Council will be collecting unwanted sandbags across the borough over the next two weeks. Sandbags in the Andover Town area will be collected on Monday 14 April.

Some 80,000 sandbags were distributed across Test Valley to help alleviate the risk of flooding. As groundwater remains high in some areas, the cleanup operation is being phased to collect sandbags from areas no longer at risk of flooding. The collection scheme does not not include sandbags deployed in large quantities at strategic site identified by the Environment Agency. These will remain in pace for the time being.

Residents and businesses wishing to dispose of their sandbags should, where possible, place them at the front of their property on the day before the collection date.

Uncontaminated sandbags may be stored for future use or the sand dug into soil. Empty sandbags can be disposed of in normal household waste black bins for collection.

All recovered sand will be recycled.

Dates for others areas around Andover can be found on the Andover Town Council Noticeboard and should have been notified to your Parish Council
