The defibrillator was installed on 31 October 2024 at the One Stop Shop on Locksbridge Road, ensuring that life-saving equipment is accessible to residents and visitors alike in a central, high-traffic location. A local group is being formed to support residents and businesses with maintaining defibrillators and training the community in their use.
The British Heart Foundation advises that a defibrillator should ideally be accessible within a 4-minute reach or located within 200 metres.

Andover Town Mayor, Councillor Heather Neate, commented: “I am pleased that the Council has been able to support a local initiative to improve community safety and welfare.”
Picket Piece Defibrillator Fundraising Lead, Stuart Randall, added: “It’s been an incredible accomplishment to work with a dedicated team of fundraisers. The support from Andover Town Council and One Stop Shop has been outstanding, demonstrating their commitment to community initiatives. We’re also grateful for the generous contributions from Picket Piece Social Club, and the wider community.”
