On Wednesday 7th August at The Lights, Councillor Mark Farren (Millway) represented the Town Mayor and the Andover Town Council during the Andover Carnival AGM/After Party and presentation evening.
The Andover Carnival celebrated its centennial year in 2024 and the Town Council were very pleased to have been able to award the Carnival committee a grant of £2,000 earlier this year to help with the delivery of what turned out to be a record breaking event.
Records tumbled with the number of stalls in the town park, the number of lorries involved in the procession, the number of attendees, and ultimately the amount of money raised for charity. Cheques for £3000 were awarded on the night to Purple Oak Support and Girlguiding Andover Division.
Councillor Farren joined other contributors and sponsors in awarding the rosettes for the top placing procession entrants and afterwards said of the event “The Carnival is a wonderful display of community togetherness that unites the entire town. Personally, I am so pleased that the Andover Town Council could be even a small part of this, and I have the upmost respect for the work of the Carnival Committee, all the entrants, and all those who contributed towards making the event such a resounding success for our Town.”
