Christmas Lights are coming, Christmas Lights are coming!!!!
For the keen eyed amongst you, you will have no doubt noticed the Christmas Lights being installed over the last week or so.
The ‘Christmas Fairies’ aka as The Town Clerk & Deputy Town Clerk have been in the Town Centre during early hours of the morning, a time of the day the rest of us didn’t even know existed.
They have been overseeing the installation of the Christmas Tree and the Christmas lights.
The beautiful Christmas Tree arrived in the earlier hours of Thursday morning and as you can see from the photos, the very clever man in charge of the ‘remote control’ did an amazing job fitted a very large tree in a very small hole!!!!
The ladies were then back on site again late Sunday and Monday nights ensuring the Contractors where kept topped up with hot drinks as they worked their magic with the installation of all of the lights throughout the town.
For many of us, the Switching on of the Lights is the start of Christmas, so once the ‘Christmas Fairies’ can breathe again because all of the Lights came on in time with the crowd’s counting, we can all get our party clothes out and let the partying begin.
As the past photos shows the people of Andover and their friends come out in their 1000’s to support this event, so make sure you get here early and make sure you get a good spot on the night.
From the tired but excited ‘Christmas Fairies’, Councillors, staff, families & friends at Andover Town Council we all very much look forward to seeing you all on the 16th November 2018 for this year’s big Switch On.
The Official Switch on is at 7pm and will be in the very capable hands of Andover Town Mayor, Cllr Barbara Long and this year she will be joined by the winner of the Poem Competition.
