Mayor Heather Neate said: “Our thoughts are with those families displaced by the devastating fire in Dairy Court, Charlton Road, on Sunday.
“Our thanks go to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service for their prompt action, which ensured that families were safely evacuated, Andover Community Church for providing immediate shelter and to the community for practical help in providing ongoing support.
“Test Valley Borough Council has set up website pages detailing support for those affected by the fire. Please do contact them if you would like to help.”

Cllr Robin Hughes said: “Against the backdrop of this awful incident, it is so heartening that members of the local community, voluntary sector and local businesses pull together to give their support to those most affected.”

Cllr Edward Reynolds said: “This is a tragic incident for the occupants and the loss of memories which can never be recovered.
“My heart goes out to them and the adjoining neighbours who have been caught up in this unfortunate incident.
“Fire destroys more than just buildings; it affects people’s lives for a very long time.
“Thanks to all those who rallied round to help those in need and the church for opening up the premises for shelter.
“It’s nice to see that you are never alone in a crisis.”
