Traffic management essential gas main replacement Andover

Road closures, temporary traffic lights and footpath closures for essential gas main replacement Charlton Road, Mylen Road, Beckett Road, Mill Way Road, Wey Hill Road, Lodge Close in Andover.

From Tuesday 16 September, SGN specialist contractors I&G Contractors Limited will be carrying out gas main replacement work on a number of roads in Andover.  These essential works involve replacing old metal gas pipes with new plastic pipes to ensure we can continue to provide a safe and efficient gas supply and avoid disruptive gas leaks in the future.

Due to the location of the gas main in the road, for everyone’s safety we’ll need to have a road closures, temporary traffic lights and footpath closures in place   We’ve planned these works and traffic management in two phases as follows:

Phase one– Monday 15 September duration 4 weeks
Charlton Road – Multiway traffic lights and bus stop suspensions
• Engineers will be working along Charlton Road from the junction of Harrow Way to Myleen Road .  We’ll be working under temporary multiway lights and bus stops will need to suspended – alternative stops will be provided. (we have requested alternative stops

Phase two – Monday 13 October for duration 13 weeks
Mylen Road– road closures
• We’ll be working on Mylen Road from the junction of Charlton Road to Millway Road – a road closure will be in place

Beckett Road – give and take 27th Nov for 3 weeks

Phase three – from 17/11/2025 for duration 11 weeks
• Mill Way Road – 17/11/2025 for approx.  11 weeks
• Wey Hill Road – 06/01/2026 for 2 weeks – Wey Hill roundabout with junction Millway Road – under 2 way traffic lights and bus stop suspension
• Lodge Close – 24/11/2025 for 3 weeks – give and take, replacing the main and the services

Road closures will mean

• No through vehicle access past the location of closures in either direction
• Vehicle access for residents/to properties will be maintained – our site team will ensure residents are informed of access arrangements and signage will be in place for visitors/deliveries etc.
• Temporary traffic lights will be Manual control Mon-Fri 07:30-09:30 and 16:00-18:00
• Bus routes may be affected – we’d advise passengers to contact their service provider for the latest updates to timetables/bus stop locations
• Bin collection days will remain unchanged unless your service providers advise otherwise
